Committed to Quality

Quality doesn't happen by chance

In today’s hybrid working environment, where workers often operate remotely with no on-site technical support, and where they also carry their laptop between different workspaces, quality and reliability become even more critical to business efficiency.

When you buy a Dynabook computer you are buying cutting edge design, engineering and manufacturing. Dynabook computers are also among the most exhaustively-tested PCs on the market today. Before our laptops are released into the marketplace, they are tested for every possible usage scenario to ensure quality and reliability.

That’s why our average hardware failure rate per month is just 0.13%. (average monthly rate between Jan 2022 and Nov 2022, based on in warranty products in EMEA)

Standard Dynabook tests - HALT

We test our complete range of laptops using our own HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) methodology, which simulates three years of use. Only those that pass these rigorous tests are released to the market.

Military tests - MIL-STD 810 G/H

All Portégé and Tecra laptops are tested to US Military standards. The MIL-STD 810 test methodology defines a number of environmental tests which indicate how well a particular piece of equipment performs in the field. Each test is associated with a source of environment stress, such as vibration, moisture, dust, extreme temperatures, or humidity.

High temp. (30°c - 60°c)

High Temperature

Storage: 63°C for 24 hrs
Operation: 43°C for 8 hrs

Drop test

Drop test

Devices are dropped 26 times on each face, edge and corner

Dust test

Dust test

Devices are blasted with sand and dust for 6 hours

Altitude test

Altitude test

Devices are tested for operations at 15,000 feet

Low temperature

Low temperature

Storage: -25°C for 24 hrs
Operation: -21°C for 8 hrs

Temperature shock

Temperature shock

60°C to -20°C over 3 cycles of 2h duration

Humidity test

Humidity test

91–98% relative humidity, at 30–60°C

Vibration test

Vibration test

Vibration through 3 axis over 1 hour

Shock test
